Thank you for visiting our web site. We are very pleased to welcome you and hope that you like what you see. Over a number of years we have visited many areas of Scotland staying in a variety of types of self-catering accommodation. During this time we dreamt of being able to have such a home ourselves, where we could combine what we think are all the best aspects of self-catering.
We love the peace and tranquillity of Scotland and the feeling of being “in the middle of nowhere”. At the same time we also love to eat (and drink) out, especially if we can walk home! Places of interest to visit, lovely walks, wildlife, time with friends and a local welcome are also all high on our list of essentials.
This year we were lucky enough to acquire “Colgrain” in the lovely village of Edinbane on the north coast of the Isle of Skye. So, if you like the same sort of things we are sure it will be worth you taking the time to
have a closer look at this site.
We’d love to hear from you.

“Colgrain” is a beautifully appointed detached home suitable for 8/9 people – we fell in love with it the moment we walked in. It stands in half an acre of grounds with uninterrupted views down to Loch Greshornish. The house has a really light and spacious lounge with TV (far better than ours at home!) and DVD player. There is also a lovely dining room which has patio doors leading to a large decked area with garden furniture. A family room provides additional accommodation with a bespoke sofa bed which converts into an exceptionally comfortable double bed. Trust us – the bed is really comfortable – we have slept on plenty that aren’t so we know how important this is. The kitchen is fabulously well equipped and there is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a king size bedded room with en-suite bathroom, one room with either a super king sized bed or two single beds and a further bedroom with bunk/twin beds. There is also a high quality “pull out” bed suitable for a young person up to mid teens. In addition there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Edinbane is perfectly situated for exploring the beauty of Skye, it is midway between Dunvegan and Portree (which is less than 14 miles) giving easy access to the whole island. Both the Waternish and Trotternish Peninsulas are close and there are many lovely walks nearby. Edinbane has two small and friendly hotels which are open to non-residents for meals. There is also a village shop which stocks essential items. In addition the famous Edinbane Pottery is located in the village.
All heating, lighting and fuel costs are included in the tariffs shown. Bedding, towels and tea towels are all provided. We will also ensure that tea, coffee, sugar and milk are provided on arrival to help you recover from your journey! Small welcome gifts of local produce will also await your arrival.
Please feel free to bring your dogs, hamsters, budgies etc
